Alicja Kwade's Time Zone series consist of metal rods in the shape of the border lines between the Earth's time zones. The lines have been cut out of steel, bronze or iron, and are connected to one another from West to East. Standard Time was invented to create a time frame for legal, commercial and social purposes. As most of Kwade’s works, the Time Zone series focuses on the structure and the perception of time in our everyday lives, thereby questioning reality and common conventions.
